Work & Spontaneous Activity
Sri H.W.L.Poonja

"Spontaneous activity does not need to be manipulated by intellect, mind or senses. Spontaneous activity will be conducted by a higher power and it is not your concern! If you are concerned, there is doership, and then karma and the world reappear. To become a doer--"I am doing"--you become responsible. But when you return to discover where this doership arises from, it will leave you. Then some unforeseen, indescribable activity will take charge of you. Unexplainable knowledge will take charge of you. Supreme activity, unheard of, will take charge of you. That is spontaneous activity within itself, and you are not in charge."

"Always, it is your true nature, the Self, the unknown, which is responsible for the activity, but the ego claims it. When the sun is shining you say "I see." When the sun is gone you say, "I can't see." Who is it who can see that you can't see? That I call Self-nature, through which seeing and not seeing is seen. You have to surrender to that supreme unknown emptiness and function from there."

"In the first few months after my realisation, I didn't have a single thought. I could go to the office and perform all my duties without ever having a thought in my head. . . . everything I did was performed without any mental activity at all. There was an ocean of inner silence that never gave rise to even a ripple of thought. It did not take me long to realise that a mind and thought are not necessary in the world. When one abides as the Self, some divine power takes charge of one's life. All actions then take place spontaneously, and are performed very efficiently, without any mental effort or activity."
